One year ago, Pokémon GO made its debut and quickly became a worldwide phenomenon. To celebrate the milestone, Niantic has announced a handful of special events which will be taking place around the globe.

First off, Pokémon GO Fest will take place in Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, July 22nd. During this event, players at Grant Park will have to cooperate with players around the world during “Challenge Windows” to reap rewards and bonuses. The Pokémon trainers in the park will be able to unlock perks for players around the world by catching certain types of Pokémon. For instance, catching lots of Electric-type Pokémon will reduce distances for hatching Eggs, while catching a lot of Grass types will grant Stardust bonuses. Meanwhile, players around the world will attempt to catch as many Pokémon as possible to help extend the duration of the bonuses. A Mystery Challenge will be unlocked if enough players around the world catch enough Pokémon which could also result in an “extra-special bonus.”
