The Pokemon Company International announced that multiple Pokemon TCG Illustration Contest 2024 entrants are disqualified due to not following the contest rules. The announcement didn’t note how many people ended up removed or offer any reasons, but it did say more artists’ work will be added to the top 300 as a result.
Here is the official statement, which appeared on the worldwide site for the event. While no reasons were mentioned, it did specifically mention “upholding the integrity of the Pokemon TCG Illustration Contest.” This could mean that some of the art that made it into the top 300 that infringed people’s rights and used someone else’s work without permission, such as AI-created works, or that other inappropriate content made it through. The Official Contest Rules section went over these rules.
We are aware that select entrants from the top 300 finalists of the Pokemon TCG Illustration Contest 2024 have violated the official contest rules.
As a result, entrants in violation of these rules have been disqualified from the contest. Furthermore, additional artists participating in the contest will soon be selected to be among the top 300 finalists.

This year, people were able to submit art to the Pokemon TCG Illustration Contest 2024 between October 2023 and January 2024. The theme is Magical Pokemon Moments, and the featured characters are Absol, Bidoof, Charizard, Eevee, Feraligatr, Flygon, Koraidon, Melmetal, Pikachu, and Toxtricity. The grand prize winner gets $5,000 and their design on a card. The best standard and ex winners each get $3,000 and their designs on cards.
