The Pokemon Company has started accepting lottery applications for the Pokemon TCG Classic set in Japan. The new set costs 35,000 yen (or about $234), and applications are being accepted from the Japanese Pokemon Center online store. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]
The application period runs between October 23-27, 2023. The winners will be announced after November 21, 2023, and the expected release date of the set is early August 2024. The Pokemon TCG Classic set includes three decks of cards featuring the original illustrations displayed on the Volume 1 Expansion Pack of the Pokemon Trading Card Game, released in 1996.
The set also includes a playmat, deck protectors, a toolbox, and damage counters. None of the cards included in the three decks are marked with regulation marks. The classic set decks are designed independently of the current Standard, Extra, and Hall of Fame regulation formats.
