This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Time to dust off Pokemon Sword and Shield. In the lead up to release of the first expansion, The Isle of Armor, the games will be getting some free characters and items. A run of Pokemon Sword and Shield Mystery Gifts will be doled out. Each one will give people a Galarian Pokemon with its Hidden Ability and a number of helpful items to aid you on your adventures. As noted by the official site, things will kick off today with Galarian Mr. Mime.

It seems like each week’s Pokemon Sword and Shield Mystery Gifts will be available for only that one week. For example, Galarian Mr. Mime will be doled out starting May 22, 2020, but then Galarian Ponyta will gallop in on May 29, 2020.

Here’s the full, official schedule. Be advised that you don’t need any special codes to get these characters and items. Just start your game, go to Mystery Gift, and choose to download it via the Internet.

  • May 22, 2020 — Galarian Mr. Mime with its Hidden Ability Ice Body, plus a Lure Ball, a Moon Ball, a Heavy Ball, and a Dream Ball

  • May 29, 2020 — Galarian Ponyta with its Hidden Ability Anticipation, plus a Level Ball, a Fast Ball, a Love Ball, a Friend Ball, and a Beast Ball

  • June 5, 2020 — Galarian Corsola with its Hidden Ability Cursed Body, plus Evolution items Sweet Apple, Tart Apple, Chipped Pot, Cracked Pot, Sachet, and Whipped Dream

  • June 12, 2020 — Galarian Meowth with its Hidden Ability Unnerve, plus 100 Exp. Candies L and 50 Big Nuggets

When it comes to Pokemon Sword and Shield Mystery Gifts, there haven’t really been too many doled out since launch. That’s how the early purchase bonus Gigantamax Meowth was distributed earlier this year. Some Mystery Gift Poke Ball codes were also offered up by Ball Guy.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are available for the Nintendo Switch.
