One of the most notable changes to appear in Pokemon Legends Arceus is how players will be able to capture Pokemon. The overview trailer shows several examples of how players can capture Pokemon. They can do so either through the use of stealth, or outright battling a Pokemon they want to obtain. Upon enraging a wild Pokemon, players will need to skillfully dodge any attacks thrown their way. Players can then choose to throw out their own Pokemon to challenge the wild Pokemon in battle. Similar to previous titles, weakening the Pokemon will allow for them to be captured.

Players can also undertake quests while completing their Pokedex to receive rewards. The overview trailer reveals that there are several different sub-objectives for each individual Pokemon. For example, the trailer reveals that the sub-objectives for the Wurmple include number caught, number evolved, and number of “light” size caught. The trailer also provides a brief glimpse at the Pokemon ranch that will appear in Pokemon Legends Arceus.

Pokemon Legends Arceus will launch on the Nintendo Switch on January 28, 2022.
