Pokemon in the sky, no Game Boy required

Singapore Airlines has a consolation prize if you forgot to charge your DS or PSP. The handy dandy personal movie player doubles as a game console. The generic and slow multiplayer chess games don’t make it anything to write about. But the KrisWorld console has Nintendo’s blessing. Nintendo officially put Game Boy Color games on the device that run off a Game Boy emulator.

Here’s a look at the phone shaped controller. It’s actually designed as a Super Nintendo controller with shoulder buttons and all.

Hmm… only two categories? Let’s go with adventure.

The selection is rather meager, only Super Mario Brothers Deluxe and Kirby’s Dreamland 2. I guess beggars can’t be choosers.

Mario it is! The game has some serious emulation issues and a choppy frame rate. After playing through level 1-1 I gave it a rest.

Perhaps, Pokemon will be better. The selection isn’t half bad with Pokemon Yellow, Pokemon Silver and Pokemon Gold on the console. I hopped onto Pokemon Yellow and since it’s an RPG it didn’t suffer the laggy emulation that Super Mario Deluxe did. The only problem is you can’t save the game at all. As soon as you quit the game your progress is lost forever. I don’t think anyone is going to attempt to beat Pokemon on a plane ride, but it would have been nice to include a save feature.

Wait a minute here! There are other games on other flights? Some planes are equipped with Picross 2, Zelda: The Oracle of Ages and Wario Land 3? I feel like I’m missing out now!
