Near the end of the Pokemon Direct, Game Freak provided an update on Pokemon Home, which is the service going forward which can help store your Pokemon for various games.

While we haven’t heard much about this service even after the launch of Pokemon Sword & Shield, it was announced today that Pokemon Home will launch in February 2020.
Additionally, the service will work with the newly announced expansions ‘The Isle of Armor’ and ‘The Crown Tundra’. Pokemon Home can be used as a service to trade newly available Pokemon.
Pokemon Home will launch in February 2020 on Nintendo Switch. More information will be released later on.
