Pokemon GO Raid From Home Feature and Live Events Are on the Way

Pokemon Go Raids at Home

The nature of Pokemon GO, a game that normally encourages people to get up and venture out into the world to play, is changing in the wake of the global pandemic. While this has meant event cancellations, it has also led to new one Poke Coin bundles and more spawns. Now, as part of an even larger effort to get people to stay home, Niantic is talking about a Pokemon GO Raid from home feature and live events.

The Pokemon GO Raid from home feature isn’t enabled yet, but will be coming to the game in the near future. When it kicks in, people players have registered as friends will be able to enter into a Raid without leaving their home, heading to a gym, and gathering with other people. As part of this initiative, there will also be ways to share memories of places with friends.

Pokemon GO live events, with Pokemon GO Fest specifically mentioned, will also be at home activities during the pandemic. Again, specifics weren’t mentioned, but an update was promised “soon.”

The final change will be an alteration to how the game tracks steps. Adventure Sync will be updated so it tracks movement around the house or during fitness routines people can engage in within a limited space. That way, people could still hatch eggs or meet walking goals.

Pokemon GO is available for Android and Apple iOS devices. Gothita, Gothorita, and Gothitelle are now in the game and the current bundle gives people 50 Great Balls for one Poke Coin.
