By On December 25th, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company launched the Pokémon Bank cloud service in Japan, but just two days later, the service has been taken offline.
This isn’t due to something being wrong with Pokémon Bank itself, but rather because Nintendo’s Nintendo Network and eShop servers have been overburdened this past week, both in Japan and the west.
The server troubles, which Nintendo seem to indicate are being caused by a higher than anticipated number of people attempting to create Nintendo Network IDs, are preventing people from creating their accounts on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, and also from accessing the Nintendo eShop in some cases.
As as result, the release of Pokémon Bank in North America and Europe appears to have been delayed. Serebii.net reports that the app’s release date is now listed as “TBD” (To be decided) on the eShop in both regions.
It appears as though Nintendo aren’t the only platform maker that have been experience server troubles this Christmas. Polygon report that Microsoft, too, were having service trouble a day ago.
