Pokebrawl Mod Adds More Playable Pokémon To Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Recommended Videos

YouTube user Sleepy Jirachi has uploaded a video of their upcoming “Pokebrawl” mod for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. As the title of the mod implies, it adds a bunch of extra playable Pokémon fighters to the game’s roster. What you can see in the video is a fight between Ganondorf, Blaziken, Mewtwo, and Electivire.

Using the models of the Pokémon already present inside Brawl from the Poké Balls you throw to summon support, Sleepy Jirachi adds custom movesets and animations to each Pokémon so that they have the feel of being unique fighters that remain faithful to the original characters.

The mod is currently in beta, and was on hiatus for a while, but Sleepy Jirachi is back and working on it once again. Among the Pokémon that have been added as playable fighters so far are Blaziken, Blastoise, Jirachi, Electivire, Meloetta,Venusaur, and Typhlosion. As well as adding more Pokémon, Sleepy Jirachi notes that they plan to update the Pokémon to their XY versions too.

Sleepy Jirachi also notes in the video’s description that they’re looking for anyone with Brawl modding experience to help out, particularly those who are adepts at creating custom move sets, as that’s their weakest skill. “I’m not super good with custom movesets but I can import and make animations and stuff so if you can finnagle with movesets even the tiniest bit let me know!” they write.

So, you’ll have to wait a bit longer to get your hands on this mod (unless you end up helping out or testing it), but it’s certainly one to look out for if you want to further your love of both Pokémon and Super Smash Bros.
