In the last quarterly report, the number of PlayStation 4 sales was at 102.8 million to surpass the original PlayStation’s 102.49 million. That means the system sold north of 3.5 million units between September 30 through December 31, 2019. Sony also announced that the PlayStation VR reached 5 million in sales.

Additionally, PlayStation Network saw 103 million active users in December 2019 to mark another year of successful holiday sales. Furthermore, cumulative sales of PS4 games from retailers and PlayStation Store have reached 1.15 billion as of December 31, 2019.

Here’s a message from Sony Interactive Entertainment President and CEO, Jim Ryan:

“I am very pleased to see that so many PlayStation fans value the unparalleled entertainment experience on PS4. This has been made possible by the support we have from our partners and fans since launching PlayStation in 1994, and I would like to truly thank everyone. We’ve consistently delivered innovative products like PlayStation VR, which has reached its 5 million unit sales milestone*4. There is much more entertainment experience to look forward to that the PlayStation ecosystem will provide that we can’t wait to share with our fans.”

We can expect to see more updated numbers when we get the quarterly reports in a few more weeks.

The PlayStation 4 first launched in North America and Europe in November 2013. It released in Japan in February 2014.
