PlatinumGames Explain Parrying In Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

PlatinumGames have shared new videos from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on their studio blog, explaining the concept of parrying and how it works. In order to parry, you face an incoming enemy attack, hold the analog stick in its direction, and execute a light attack (Square on PS3; X on 360 controller). If it works, you’ll be able to cut the enemy to ribbons. Here’s what that looks like:

If your opponent is more skilled, they’ll be able to parry your parry and counter-attack. In such a situation, you’ll need to parry back yourself and counter-attack. This could potentially go back-and-forth for a few cycles, like so:

 

 

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be released on February 19th in North America and February 21st in Europe. U.K. will get the game on Feb. 22nd.
