Phantasy Star Online 2 In U.S. And Europe To Share The Same Server

Recommended Videos

When Phantasy Star Online 2 is released in North America and Europe in 2013, the two regions will share the same server, the game’s producer, Satoshi Sakai, reveals in an interview on 4Gamer (via PSU Blog). The game is also planned for release in other parts of Asia.

Sakai appears to have taken note of overseas demand for the game, saying that he was shocked by how quickly the Japanese character-creator app was fan-translated into English.

Sakai also says that there may be some changes to game content as part of the localization process for different regions. One example of this, according to an earlier interview with Sakai, could be the addition of darker skin tones in the game’s character creator.

Finally, Sakai also gives a little overview of Phantasy Star Online 2’s origins. The game, he says, began development in 2008. At the time, the development team were debating whether to call if Phantasy Star Online 2 or Phantasy Star Universe 2. The free-to-play model, Sakai says, was decided upon right at the start.
