Panel de Pon and the King of Fighters coming to Japan’s virtual console

kknight.jpgNext month Japan isn’t getting any new Nintendo 64 games, but the very first game in the long King of Fighters linage, the King of Fighters ’94 is coming out. It’s being accompanied by two other Neo Geo games: Baseball Stars 2 and Top Hunter.

From the Square-Enix vault is King’s Knight, a pre-Final Fantasy shmup where you control four different characters (knight, wizard, thief and Godzilla-like monster!) to save a princess. Each warrior had their own level and if you managed to complete all of them the four characters link up on the final stage. King’s Knight is one of those obscure games that is tempting to try, but you’ll probably regret buying it after playing it for ten minutes.

Sega has a pretty solid line up with Light Crusader, Ecco Jr. and Eternal Champions. Since the ESRB rated some of these games, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Eternal Champions debut next month either. Then from the Turbo Duo side there are four games. Only three of them are new because Gradius II: Gofer no Yabou isn’t squeaking out next week.
