Nintendo revealed the next Nintendo Switch Online free, exclusive game. Pac-Man 99 will debut on the Switch on April 7, 2021. It will be free to download for Nintendo Switch Online members and an online-only multiplayer game. However, people will have to pay for extra offline modes and cosmetic options.

As the title suggests, there will be 99 people playing Pac-Man at once. Your goal is to be the last person remaining. Like Tetris 99 and Super Mario Bros. 35, pressing action buttons and right analog stick can change how you play. For example, the right analog stick determines how you target potential “opponents” after eating ghosts. The A, B, X, and Y buttons are mapped to strategies like Speed, Train, Stronger, and Standard to determine how you handle the map. So Train would rack up ghost trains, while speed would make things faster.

Here’s the first Pac-Man 99 Switch trailer. At the 1:55 mark, it starts showing off paid content. You can see extra modes like Blind Time Attack, CPU Battle, and Score Attack. You can also buy cosmetic themes inspired by Dig Dug, Galaga, The Tower of Druaga, Rally X, Wonder Momo, and Xevious.

Pac-Man 99 will come to the Nintendo Switch on April 7, 2021, with its base multiplayer mode free for subscribers. The extra modes cost $14.99 to unlock, extra themes are $1.99 each, and the $29.99 Deluxe Pack gives you all modes and themes.
