Overlord: Escape from Nazarick is a spinoff video game adaptation of the Overlord series. The series initially started as a light novel in 2010, and later recieved an anime and manga adaptation in 2015. Escape from Nazarick will feature side-scrolling combat mechanics similar to other games in the “Metroidvania” genre. Players will control Clementine and fight through the Tomb of Nazarick in order to regain her memories and abilities.

The new work-in-progress gameplay footage appeared during a stream on May 12, 2022. It features Clementine facing off against Albedo, a guardian of the Tomb of Nazarick and one of the main characters of the series. As in the anime, Albedo wields her giant battle axe 3F.

In light of the game’s international release, the company opened up an official Twitter account for English-speaking fans. Similar to the Japanese Twitter account, it will provide fans with updates and new footage in English.

Escape from Nazarick is the latest in a line of video game adaptations for the Overlord franchise. Back in 2019, an RPG titled Overlord: Mass for the Dead released in Japan for smartphones. Before that, Kadokawa also released a free Overlord game created in RPG Maker MV. The franchise also received a Picross entry.

Overlord: Escape from Nazarick will release for PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch in Summer 2022.
