Original Inuyasha Voice Actors Say They Will Reprise Their Roles

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

There’s more news about Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon. This time, it involves additional original Inuyasha voice actors. As caught by Ota-Suke, both of the people who originally played Inuyasha and Kagome Higurashi, Kappei Yamaguchi and Satsuki Yukino, have said they will be reprising their iconic Inuyasha roles on Twitter. While neither one mentioned the new spin-off, both actors included the hashtag for Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, which is #半妖の夜叉姫. [Thanks, Anime News Network!]

Both Yamaguchi and Yukino have been Inuyasha voice actors in the anime series, multiple movies, and other specials. Yamaguchi has also been involved in other Rumiko Takahashi series, as he was Ranma Saotome in Ranma 1/2. People would probably also remember Yamaguchi as Breath of Fire III and IV’s Ryu, Final Fantasy VII Remake’s Red XIII, One Piece’s Usopp, and Persona 4’s Teddie. As for Yukino, she has also played Bleach’s Yoruichi, Trigun’s Milly, Utawarerumono’s Sopoku, and both Mion and Shion in Higurashi When They Cry.

As for Yashahime itself, the project was announced in early May 2020 and quickly confirmed for a worldwide release as Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon by Viz Media. Rumiko Takahashi is handling the character designs for the series, with a few recent preliminary designs for twins Towa and Setsuna and their cousin, Moroha, appearing on Twitter at the end of May 2020.

Here’s Towa, the main heroine.

This is Setsuna, her twin sister.

And here’s Moroha, who is Inuyasha and Kagome’s daughter.

Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon is in development and will debut in Fall 2020. It will air in Japan, North America, and Latin America, with Viz handling the North American and Latin American releases.
