For those unfamiliar with Black Bird, it’s actually a horizontal shooter in the vein of Fantasy Zone. As you kill more of the kingdom’s residents who take to the skies to take you down, you grow in strength and can even change form in order to wreck more havoc. The game is the brainchild of Yoshiro Kimura, who otherwise has worked on lighter games like Chulip and Dandy Dungeon. Despite its bleak aesthetic, the game has some silly moments and features cameos from another game by the same developer, Million Onion Hotel.

The Limited Run Games physical release preorders are set to begin on April 10, 2020. They will be open for around a month and end on May 8, 2020.

Limited Run Games has also revealed a Collector’s Edition for the game, which comes with an artbook, soundtrack CD, and a 18″ x 24″ poster. The Collector’s Edition will cost $64.99, and will be available for pre-order between April 10 and May 8, 2020 as well.

Black Bird is available on Nintendo Switch and PC.
