Another PlayStation 2 Classic will be debuting on the PlayStation 4 this week. Okage: The Shadow King, one of the PlayStation 2’s first JRPGs, will be making a comeback. When the PlayStation Store updates on March 22, 2016 in North America, the title will be part of the lineup. A price has yet to be announced, but all previous PlayStation 2 releases on the PlayStation 4 have been either $9.99 or $14.99.
Okage: The Shadow King is the tale of Ari and King Stanley Hihat Trinidad XIV. (Stan, for short.) To cure his sister’s Pig Latin curse, Ari allows Stan to take up residence in his shadow. This makes him his unwitting servant. False kings have taken up residence around the world since Stan’s imprisonment, which sends the two around the world to face these usurpers and restore Stan’s power. Battles are turn-based, and a large assortment of characters end up joining Ari and Stan as they attempt to restore the king to his throne.
The PlayStation 4 rerelease of Okage: The Shadow King comes the year the game turns 15. It was originally released back in 2001. It was produced by Tetsuji Yamamoto, who also was a producer for the PopoloCrois series.
