Nyu Media Partner With Capcom To Publish Japanese Indie Games On PC

Late last month, Nyu Media Limited announced plans to bring doujin (indie) games out of Japan. The announcement included a volley of Japanese indie titles licensed by Nyu Media for overseas release, including relatively well-known doujin shoot-em-ups like Ether Vapor.

This morning, Nyu Media announced that they’re entering a publishing agreement with Capcom to bring these titles to the U.S., Europe and other territories as well.

“Our partnership with Nyu Media showcases the immense creativity that’s brewing within the Japanese independent game development community and at the same time expands our PC gaming initiatives,” said Christian Svensson, senior vice president of Capcom. “I’m thrilled that Capcom is able to play a role in bringing such diverse gameplay experiences to Western audiences.”

The first game to be released as part of this agreement will be arcade shooter, Satazius, developed by Astro Port (more info here). The game lets you use 13 different types of weapons, which you can upgrade during the course of the game. Satazius will be released on Steam, GamersGate, Direct-2-Drive, Impulse, and other major PC download services.

The game is slated for release on December 20th. It will cost $5.99. Seon King, founder of Nyu Media, says that the company will maintain “accessible” pricing across its titles.
