Nioh 2 Update Lets You Transform Into Ryu Hayabusa

Nioh 2 Ryu Hayabusa

Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja have launched a new Nioh 2 update that lets players transform their character into Ninja Gaiden‘s Ryu Hayabusa. Once the update patch has been applied, the Ryu Hayabusa skin can be obtained from the Shrine Boons menu.

This addition is to celebrate the recently revealed Ninja Gaiden Master Collection. Although the announcement was first made at Nintendo Direct, Koei Tecmo later confirmed that the remaster compilation will also come to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in addition to Nintendo Switch on June 10, 2021.

Although listed as “Dragon Ninja”, the new transformation is definitely based on the famous ninja Ryu Hayabusa, whose first name translates to Dragon in Japanese. However, instead of his attire from the more recent games, Team Ninja went with Ryu’s blue ninja garb from the classic Ninja Gaiden trilogy—known in Japan as Ninja Ryukenden—that was originally released on the NES from 1988 to 1991.

In recent interviews published from December 2020 to February 2021, Team Ninja’s leader Fumihiko Yasuda noted that the brand studio is currently working on multiple games. Although the team has a few ideas for a hypothetical Nioh 3, which included the implementation of open world, it is currently not working on another sequel to the series. Yasuda added that Koei Tecmo has yet to give Team Ninja the green light to work on a brand-new Ninja Gaiden game.

Nioh 2 is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
