Last time I mentioned that Nintendo would need 11.07 million Switch consoles sales in the third and fourth quarters in order to meet the previously set forecast of 18 million in the fiscal year ending March 2020. With 10.81 million units sold in the third quarter alone, they’re practically already there with just 260,000 units left to go.

As previously reportedPokemon Sword Pokemon Shield have already reached 16 million, so it’s pretty obvious that it got a big push from the giant franchise. The Switch has also been getting strong third-party support as we’ve seen from PlatinumGames’ Astral Chain and Marvel/Team Ninja’s Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order.
