In an online investors’ Q&A with Nintendo, representatives have confirmed that the Switch 2 successor will continue to use the Nintendo account system. The entire Q&A is available in Japanese on the Nintendo website.
In total there were nine questions asked, all of which focused on Nintendo’s current plans for the Switch 2. One of the questions brought up the Nintendo account system, which is how Nintendo intends on maintaining communications with consumers. The Nintendo account system was in development even before the Switch’s release, and Nintendo plans on using it for the long-term. This implies that the Nintendo account system will be around even after the Nintendo Switch 2 becomes obsolete.
Nintendo also gives insight on its current and future development plans in other questions. While Nintendo will announce more games in the June direct, it has been diverting its resources on training new employees and working on the Switch 2. This may be why it feels like some of the recent Nintendo announcements seem a lot less exciting than before. Most of the questions focus on how Nintendo plans to continue selling the Nintendo Switch, as well as whether or not the Nintendo Switch 2 will affect sales of the current generation.
More information on the Nintendo Switch 2 will come out in the future.
