People experiencing Joy-Con drift or other issues in North America won’t be able to get items officially repaired. The North American Nintendo repair service centers have been closed in response to the COVID-19 coronavirus and government guidelines in place to help flatten the curve. No date has been set for them to be reopened. Any items already at the service centers won’t be returned until service resumes and any currently in the mail to be serviced will be sent back to their owners as-is.
The official page goes over the different products affected and what will happen if products break while the Nintendo repair service centers are closed. All Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo Wii U, and both the NES and Super NES Classic Editions can’t be repaired during this time. The Joy-Con repair page also has the notice stating they will not be repaired during this closure. Warranty expiration dates will be extended. So long as the closure doesn’t last more than 180 days, the same repair order can be used to have devices currently at the centers or with orders filed.
It is unknown when the Nintendo repair service centers will reopen in North America. While the Nintendo repair service centers are closed, the company advises people not to file any repair orders or send in their broken products.
