Nikkei’s online edition recently posted a feature on Nintendo, reported by Andriasang.com. In a discussion of Nintendo’s earnings and future prospects, Nikkei mention that the company is helping third-party publishers revive their franchises for the Nintendo 3DS, as part of an effort to bring strong games to the system.
The one example Nikkei mention is the Seaman franchise, originally created on the Dreamcast by Yoot Saito, who’s currently working with Level 5 on Guild 01. On the Dreamcast, Seaman was a virtual pet simulator about a species of fish with human-like mannerisms.
If Nikkei’s report is accurate — and they usually are — it should be interesting to see what other series are revived and given Nintendo 3DS games.
