Nintendo File “Delta Emerald” Trademark In Japan. Yep, That Sounds Like Pokemon

Recommended Videos

Nintendo have filed a new Pokémon trademark in Japan, Japanese blog Hachima Kiko reports. The trademark is titled “Delta Emerald”.

Nintendo and The Pokémon Company recently announced Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, remakes of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire for the Nintendo 3DS. The third, updated version of Ruby/Sapphire was Pokémon Emerald, so the “Delta Emerald” trademark fits right in.

Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean that there’s a third version of the Ruby/Sapphire generation games coming; after all, Pokémon FireRed/LeafGreen and Pokémon HeartGold/SoulSilver—all of which were remakes of past games—had no third version.

(You may also recall that Nintendo once filed a trademark for Pokémon Grey, which everyone figured would be the updated version of Pokémon Black and White, but nothing came of that either.)

We’ll have more information on “Delta Emerald” if further information is ever shared on the trademark. In the meantime, it can join the other mystery Pokémon trademarks like Pokkén Fighters and Pokétouch.
