Back in 2009, Renegade Kid published a first-person shooter for Nintendo DS, titled Moon. This game is now headed to the Nintendo 3DS with updated visuals and stereoscopic 3D, Renegade Kid have revealed via IGN.

Moon Chronicles will be released via the Nintendo eShop, and will be split up into several episodes, each one containing a few chapters of the full game.

The game’s visuals have been updated to include higher detailed geometry models for the player character, enemies, weapons and key environment elements. You can view a comparison between the two versions above.

Renegade Kid say that Moon Chronicles will run at 60 frames-per-second with 3D turned on, and will feature full-screen anti-aliasing with 3D turned off. The game will support aiming either via the touch screen or Circle Pad Pro accessory for the 3DS.

Here’s how the episodes will be broken up:

Episode 1: $8.99 (contains chapters 1 – 4 and 1 VR Training Mission)

Episode 2 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 5 – 8 and 1 VR Training Mission)

Episode 3 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 9 – 12 and 2 VR Training Missions)

Episode 4 (as DLC): $1.99 (contains chapters 13 – 18 and 2 VR Training Missions)

Renegade Kid aim to release Episode 1 in March 2014, with the other three episodes to follow throughout the year. Provided all goes well, Renegade Kid will then release new story content for the game in 2015, in the form of further episodes.
