With the Nintendo Switch, people who want to play online need to also pay for the $19.99 individual or $34.99 family membership plan. However, that isn’t going to be needed for one upcoming game. GungHo Online Entertainment confirmed that Ninjala doesn’t require Nintendo Switch Online for people to go online.

In Ninjala, people face off in multiplayer matches online. A new developer diary looks at how people can customize characters before heading into battle royale matches. It shows how these ninjas can use gum and shinobi powers, like the ability to transform, to help get an edge over opponents when someone is trying to build up points in an all-or-nothing match.

Here’s the full Ninjala developer diary that looks at what a competitive battle royale match will look like. If people stick around after the battle portion, they’ll see how they’ll be able to customize their avatars with things like clothing, emotes, and accessories.

Keep in mind this is only one sort of mode, and the game will also offer things like 4v4 matches.

Ninjala will come to the Nintendo Switch on May 27, 2020. It will be entirely free-to-play. This comes after it went silent for a while and was delayed from its original release window into Spring 2020.
