Circle Edge, a three-man development team in Japan, are working with Nicalis on bringing a fighting game to the Nintendo 3DS. Titled Yatagarasu, the game is developed by designers who have previously worked on The King of Fighters series. Art is handled by ex-SNK artist Styleos (Toshiyuki Kotani); game design and balance by Umezono (also ex-SNK); and engine design by Shiza.

Yatagarasu was actually originally released in 2011 in Japan. The game took four years to develop, and has a four-button attack system as well as a parry system. It includes eight playable characters; a single-player and 2-player mode; and Training and Replay modes. It also has one other interesting feature—an optional commentator system that simulates trash talk during fights.

“Yatagarasu” is still only a tentative title for the Nintendo 3DS version of the game, and yes, it’s headed to both North America and Europe.

Nicalis haven’t announced a release date yet, but they will be taking the game with them to PAX Prime, where attendees will be able to try it out. You can watch a trailer for the game above.
