Netmarble and Level-5 confirmed that they will release Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds in East Asia on June 10, 2021. Pre-registrations for the mobile game have been available in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan since April 2021. [Thanks, Game Watch!]
Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds is a mobile MMORPG made with Unreal Engine 4. Netmarble first revealed the project in November 2019. The game will stay true to the Ni no Kuni series origins, with Studio Ghibli producing the anime cutscenes and Joe Hisaishi composing the soundtrack. It will take place in a virtual reality game called Soul Divers, which also happens to be connected with the real world in the game’s universe.
Players will be able to choose from five available characters: Swordsman, Witch, Destroyer, Rogue, and Engineer. Each character also has a real-world persona with different backgrounds. The core gameplay system will have players build a kingdom and decorate the territory in their own ways.
Other than defending the kingdom from monster raids, players can also invade other territories in guild-vs-guild battles. At Tokyo Game Show 2020, Level-5 also revealed more gameplay footage showing Familiars that can support players in various ways.
Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds will launch for Android and iOS mobile devices in Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan on June 10, 2021.
