New characters in the upcoming new Pokemon anime series have been introduced, alongside their Japanese voice actors. The new characters are Amejio, whose Pokemon partner is Ceruledge, a new Pokemon from the Paldea region. Jiru and Konia are both members of Amegeo’s organization, the Explorers. Their Pokemon partners are Rhydon and Golduck, respectively. The last character introduced in this batch of news is Gurumin, an online streamer that wears a full-body mascot suit. [Thanks, Natalie!]
You can check out the design for Amejio, Jiru, Konia, and Gurumin in the gallery below.
Amejio will be voiced by Shun Horie in the Japanese dub. He previously voiced Aether in Genshin Impact, Linhardt von Hevring in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and Hacker in Akudama Drive. Jiru is voiced by Kosuke Tanabe. He has previously voiced Lanz in the Japanese dub of Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Oda Nobuyuki in Samurai Warriors 5.
Meanwhile, Konia is voiced by Yusa Shida, who is voicing Princess Peach in the Japanese dub of the upcoming Super Mario Bros movie. Gurumin is voiced by Yoshinoh Aoyama. He has previously voiced Hitori Gotou in Bocchi the Rock!.
In an interview with Japanese outlet, Natalie, Shun Horie said that he was so nervous that he thought he was hallucinating when he stepped into the recording booth. That’s how excited Horie felt about voicing a character for the Pokemon anime series.
The new Pokemon anime series premieres on April 14, 2023, and the first episode will be a one hour long special.
