Square Enix announced new Octopath Traveler 2 merchandise. The emblematic oil lantern that the characters automatically equip while exploring dark caves and the twisted corridors of castles and mansions in the original Octopath Traveler will return in this new entry. The Octopath Traveler 2 lantern is available for pre-order from the Square Enix e-STORE, and it costs 5.000 yen (approximately $37).
The lantern is battery powered, the exterior is made of tinplate, and it is engraved with the icons for each of the eight main jobs in the game. The color of the light can be changed between a white and an orange hue. The item is now available for pre-order, and it will release on February 24, 2023, coinciding with the release of Octopath Traveler 2.

The newest entry in the HD-2D franchise will have the player choosing their protagonist among a cast of eight new travelers, all in familiar roles, but in a completely new era. The sequel allows for more flexibility, with each protagonist having two Path Actions depending on time of day, along with new abilities, and more options when equipping sub-classes.
The Break & Boost battle system make a return, and every protagonist will be able to use a character-exclusive Latent Power, making your character choice even more important. The new entry will allow the travelers to interact between each other more often and naturally along their travels, not just inside of certain one-on-one skits.
Octopath Traveler 2 will come out on February 24, 2023, for the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. The Octopath Traveler 2 lantern will appear in Japan on February 24, 2023 as well.
