Square Enix’s got a whole new NieR Replicant Attract Movie Ver. trailer that opens the game and sets the stage for the adventure. It’s filled with spoilers for those new to the game right from the very start. Most notably, it all begins with one of the most famous quotes from Kaine from NieR berating Grimoire Weiss.
Here’s the full video, which acts as NieR Replicant’s opening movie. It is identical to the original game’s introduction. Everything kicks off with the profanity-laden quote from Kaine, which does include spoilers regarding a certain NieR Replicant plot point and character. From there, it shows off key fights and moments before and after the in-game timeskip.
Some of the footage might look familiar, as the fights or areas appeared in other teasers for the game ahead of launch. For example, one trailer focused on showing off Nier, Kaine, and Emil. Another one headed back to the Barren Temple. And at The Game Awards 2020, Square Enix shared a video to remind people what its bullet hell boss fights could be like.
NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139 will release on April 23, 2021 worldwide for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It will also get DLC referencing NieR: Automata,
