Project Re Fantasy appeared again, as Atlus showed a new Metaphor: ReFantazio trailer going over the RPG at The Game Awards 2023. It offered our latest look at the game since its official June 2023 debut and confirmed a Fall 2024 release window.
Here’s a closer look at the latest footage and announcements for the game, which will debut in 2024. As with the first trailer, which showed up at the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase, it focused on a mix of cinematic and gameplay. It also offered a better idea of how the story goes. It begins suggesting it is a fairy tale, in a world “highness once dreamed of.” It notes that there is a tournament for the throne following the king’s death. We then see gameplay and hear more about the motivations behind our player and others competing for the throne.
As a reminder, here’s how the first trailer for Metaphor: ReFantazio looked. It offered a balance of cinematics and gameplay footage as well. Plus, it offered a first look at the various UIs we’ll see as we play.
While this did mark our latest look at the game since the original reveal, Atlus has offered some details about it since unveiling what Project Re Fantasy really is. For example, not long after its official reveal, members of the development team discussed its character designs. It went over the androgynous hero we’ll follow, as well as a fairy named Gallica that will accompany him on the adventure.
Metaphor: ReFantazio will come to the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC in Fall 2024. The official website for the new Atlus RPG is already open.
