Netflix has caught another Pokemon. This time, it’s the 3D, CGI movie. Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution will appear on the streaming service on February 27, 2020. This is less than one year after the July 12, 2019 Japanese debut.
The reveal came alongside the first English trailer for Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution. We get to see Ash, Brock, Misty, Pikachu, and Squirtle in the opening moments, followed by Squirtle beating a Machamp. It then cuts to Mewtwo’s awakening and Ash and his friends being invited to meet the world’s greatest trainer on New Island. (As you can expect, Team Rocket also gets to show up for the adventure.)
Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution is a remake of Pokemon the Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back. It is the twenty-second movie overall and the first one to be made completely in CG.
There are multiple Netflix Pokemon offerings to watch immediately. Pokemon the Movie: The Power of Us is streaming. You could also catch Pokemon the Series: Indigo League or Sun and Moon.
Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back—Evolution will begin streaming on Netflix on February 27, 2020. No retail release has been announced. (In Japan, people could begin picking up a physical copy of the film as of December 2019.
