Netflix Confirms Season 2 of One Piece Live-Action Show

Netflix announced that there will be a One Piece live-action adaptation season 2, and Eiichiro Oda was part of the announcement. There’s a video with the original creator’s Transponder Snail. While details about the cast didn’t come up, Oda’s message did mention Inaki Godoy, who plays Luffy, and his crew. This suggests everyone could be back.

Here’s the official announcement from Oda. In addition to mentioning Luffy and the existing crew, there’s a reference to Tony Tony Chopper. Oda noted, “From here on, it seems to me the Straw Hats will need a great doctor.”

Netflix also confirmed some stats about the show’s launch. It noted that it debuted in first place on the service in 46 countries when it launched on August 31, 2023. It ended up being in the top ten most watched shows on the service in 93 countries. Between August 31, 2023 and September 14, 2023, it passed 37.8 million views as well. Figures aside, we already had an idea this could be happening. Variety reported that some One Piece live-action season 2 scripts had already been written ahead of Netflix’s announcement.

Season 1 One Piece live-action show is on Netflix, with season 2 in development. The anime is streaming on both Crunchyroll and Netflix. Viz Media handles the manga volumes outside Japan.
