The original NES Ninja Gaiden is headed to the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in Japan. Originally released in 1988, the game puts you in the shoes of the pre-Team Ninja Ryu Hayabusa, who’s travelling to America to avenge his father’s murder.

Ninja Gaiden gives you a sword and secondary weapons like throwing stars and spinning fire balls that require spiritual energy to perform. The game also gave him a wall jump.

Ninja Gaiden will be available in Japan on August 29th for 500 yen.
