The opening trailer for NEO: The World Ends With You introduces us to new protagonists Rindo, Fret, and Nagi. Returning characters such as Minamimoto make an appearance as well. The track goes from a funky beat, to a remix of the familiar Twister rhythm, before moving onto a more hard rock tune. Along with the changing music, the frenetic visuals also give a good look at the game’s cell-shaded graphics. Similar to the first game, NEO: The World Ends With You has an urban aesthetic, which makes sense considering the game’s Shibuya setting.

Square Enix first announced NEO: The World Ends With You’s release date earlier this year. Along with the long-anticipated sequel for the game, there is an anime series inspired by the first game’s events. Though the first game originally came out on the Nintendo DS in 2007, Square Enix ported it onto iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch.

NEO: The World Ends With You will release worldwide on the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on July 27, 2021. Epic Games store will also release a Windows PC version in Summer 2021.
