It’s going to be a busy week for people involved with The Last of Us, and that’s kind of an understatement. Over the weekend, more or less the entire plot of The Last of Us Part II leaked, and we’re talking actual video footage of cutscenes. The details on where the leak came from are still fuzzy, but what isn’t fuzzy is that not long after that the game (and The Ghost of Tsushima) were given new release dates. Presumably that’s just a weird coincidence, but either way the timeline is a mess right now. To that end, Naughty Dog released a statement on Twitter that asked folks to be conscious of The Last of Us Part II spoilers.

The Last of Us Part II director Neil Druckmann also commented, which you can see here:
Heartbroken for the team. Heartbroken for our fans. We’re still incredibly excited to get the game into your hands. ❤️ https://t.co/QWKLU6I6Q3

It will be interesting to see what the fallout of this event is, considering that recent stories of Naughty Dog’s work conditions appear to be somehow related to this incident. Either way if you’re concerned about The Last of Us Part II spoilers, you’ll probably want to do exactly what this statement suggests and take the necessarily precautions. Luckily if the new release date holds, you won’t have to avert your eyes from comments sections for too much longer.
The Last of Us Part II is now set to launch for the PlayStation 4 on June 19, 2020.
