Two E3’s ago I discovered GestureTek in Kentia Hall where they had a nifty head tracking demo with the Xbox Vision camera. The technology was going to be implemented in FPS to add head turning cameras into the game, but I don’t believe it materialized in any Xbox 360 games. It’s a different world now. Motion control is red hot and GestureTek has a device in direct competition to the Wii. By device, I’m not talking about a console. Their “Wii-like” control stick works with an existing webcams and they claim it is “more cost-effective than accelerometer-based solutions.” Hmm… Sony and Microsoft have webcams. Perhaps, one of them or an intrepid PC designer planning a realistic flag waving game will take a long look at GestureTek’s technology.
