Tekken 7 producer Katsuhiro Harada revealed today that Morrigan from Capcom’s Darkstalkers fighting game series was once considered for a crossover character in the game. Sadly things didn’t pan out.
The statement came from Twitter, as a reply to a Japanese fan who asked whether there were any plans to add the alluring succubus from the Darkstalkers series to Tekken 7. Harada replied,
“Actually, back in 2017, she was the character most strongly considered for a guest character, and we were one step from paying a visit to Capcom’s Ono-san to ask about her. We had confidence in her reproducing her modeling and animation and giving her personality, but it seemed that it would take more time to examine the reproduction of her moveset, so back then, we gave up.”
Coming from a fighting game series, it wouldn’t be too hard to see how Morrigan might have been able to fit into Tekken 7‘s world. In the end, Tekken 7 featured Akuma from Street Fighter as its Capcom representative. Later on, other fighting game characters like Geese Howard from Fatal Fury would also join.
Tekken 7 is available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
