By PlatinumGames Babylon’s Fall isn’t going to sit on a backburner much longer. It turns out, more information on the game will be appearing soon. Square Enix’s Yosuke Saito confirmed that Babylon’s Fall will be one of the company’s newest works and that new details on its story will be arriving in 2019. [Thanks, Automaton!]
Babylon’s Fall was first revealed during the Square Enix E3 2018 showcase. At the time, it had a 2019 launch window for the PlayStation 4 and PC, a trailer, and its own website. Character, gameplay, and story details were not brought up.
However, the Babylon’s Fall trailer took an interesting approach. It showed off a timeline with a series of possibly important events. It eventually paused at CE 5468. That year was described as the time when “deep within the Shrine of Souls, the Nomads are born.” It showed an armored person attacking an enemy. Then, the next important date was described as CE 5500 Rebirth, with a note saying, “Led by the Nomads, Humanity strikes back against Gaia.” This text appeared above silhouettes of four characters with various body shapes, perhaps suggesting each belonged to a sort of RPG class.
Babylon’s Fall is in development for the PlayStation 4 and PC.
