Monster Rancher 1 & 2 Paid and Free DLC Available

Koei Tecmo announced free and paid DLC for Monster Rancher 1 & 2 is now available. Content provided through the free update includes the addition of a “Free Battle” mode. Additionally, players can now participate in the Monster Rancher World Tournament. The paid DLC is available for Monster Rancher 2, and will cost 980 yen or $9. Both updates are exclusive to the Nintendo Switch, and Android and iOS Japanese versions of the game. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

The paid DLC will grant access to six monsters that were previous exclusive to overseas versions of the game. It will also grant players a high speed mode, and access to the original sound effects and soundtrack. This DLC does not apply to the DX versions of the games that released in early December 2021. However, these updates will allow for players who purchased the original Japanese re-releases of the these titles to acquire content through the DX versions of the game.

Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX bundles all of the features available through the free and paid DLC into a single game. Other quality of life features that are available in the DX version include more monster storage, and a training memo function.

Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX is available for Nintendo Switch, PC, and Android and iOS devices. However, the Android release of Monster Rancher 1 & 2 is exclusive to Japan.
