Monster Hunter Stories 2 Genes

Monster Hunter Stories 2 Genes and Transferable Abilities Introduced

Capcom revealed new information about Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin’s monster training and genes ability transferal mechanics. Players will be able to acquire monsters from eggs taken from monster dens found scattered in the field. They can then power up their Monsties through the Rite of Channeling. The information was revealed during the May 2021 Digital Event.

Monstie eggs can be acquired by delving deep into monster dens, which randomly appear on the map. Some of these eggs will be rare and will hatch stronger Monsties with “hard-to-find genes.” By bringing these eggs back to the stable, players can then hatch them to acquire a new Monstie.

Additionally, the Rite of Channeling can be performed to transfer one Monstie’s genes to another in Monster Hunter Stories 2. Each Monstie will have a combination of genes in a three-by-three grid. There are a total of six different elements, as well as three different attack types to choose from. Each gene ability will have one element and attack type.

Moreover, aligning these genes three in a row either vertically, diagonally, or horizontally will give a “bingo bonus”. Players can also choose to stack gene abilities of the same type to upgrade the ability. Finally, it is also possible to transfer gene abilities to a Monstie that wouldn’t normally have them, like a fire-breathing Lagombi.
