In the press release, Capcom states that the game’s success “garnered critical acclaim following the release of two demos featuring both local and online cooperative play prior to launch.” Additionally, the press release noted that Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin will have elements that can “link with Monster Hunter Rise,” and that it will “roll out a wide variety of initiatives targeting increased brand value.” This includes the Monster Hunter adaptation movie as well as other future merchandising collaborations.

In comparison, the previous title in the series Monster Hunter World released for the PS4 and Xbox, reached 5 million units sold in the same three-day timeframe.

Monster Hunter Rise, released for the Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021, is the latest installment in the Monster Hunter franchise, garnering much attention both in Japan and worldwide. While the game had a few post-launch glitches, reception has been for the most part positive. The aforementioned title update and a DLC pack that adds new haircuts and layered armor is bound to keep many players busy for the time being.

Monster Hunter Rise is currently available for the Nintendo Switch.
