We’ve seen quite a few Nintendo-themed takes on Monopoly, but Hasbro’s latest offering takes the concepts from the Super Mario games and uses them to alter the way Monopoly is played. In Monopoly Gamer, people will play a board game that seems to have a bit in common with titles like Mario Party.
In Monopoly Gamer, people are attempting to complete the most levels (by buying properties) and earn the most coins. This means rolling one dice to go around the board and a second dice for special abilities. Your goal is to be the one with the most points, indicated by coins and properties, at the end. The game ends after eight Boss Battles have been fought after the players pass go and pay the number of coins to fight the boss and possibly defeat it.
Each character also has a special ability, which may or may not enhance the Power-Up dice’s effects. Mario, Peach, Yoshi, and Donkey Kong are included with the game. People will be able to buy additional characters, Luigi, Rosalina, Wario, Diddy Kong, and Boo, for $2.99 each.
Monopoly Gamer will come out in August 2017 and cost $24.99. A Collector’s Edition, which includes Bowser as a playable character, is going to be $39.99.
