Moloch in SMT V Won’t Take Any Bull From Any Demon

SMT V Moloch Molech

Atlus introduced Moloch as its latest demon in Shin Megami Tensei V. Part of the Tyrant race, he is the 25th recruitable demon featured in the daily video series. Atlus continues to spotlight the game’s gods and monsters leading up to its November 2021 release.

There is a lot to unpack with this week’s demon. The narrator describes Moloch in SMT V as a god of fire, worshipped in Canaan. The land of Canaan was a region in the Ancient Near East corresponding to modern Iraq, southwest Iran, Kuwait, northeastern Syria, and southeast Turkey. Scholars believe the Canaanites placed a bronze statue of a man with a bull’s head on his altar, which housed the god’s body. Additionally, the narrator states Moloch’s name appears in the Bible, calling him a heathenous pagan god.

The towering bull demon can use Agidyne, Masukunda, and a neutral attack not yet officially localized: Squash. The SMT V spotlight video shows Moloch using both offensive skills to obliterate his foes.

Since the video series will ultimately have over 200 trailers by the game’s release, we will provide recaps to the 20 most recent demons below.
