Bandai Namco announced today that Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans is getting a spinoff mobile app called Urðr Hunt that brings back the main staff behind the anime, featuring a brand-new story.
Check out the trailer below:
The project will combine game and anime elements, and will be a free-to-download smartphone app. Apart from a new story, there is also an “Original Mode” that has characters from the original Iron-Blooded Orphans appearing.
Story
The story takes place in P.D. 323, after Gjallarhorn’s intervention into the Arbrau Central Parliament led to escalation into mobile suit warfare, that was ended by the Tekkadan, a faction from Mars.
Word of the Tekkadan’s exploits have even reached the Ladonitza Colony that floats near Venus, where a boy named Wistario Apham was born and raised. Thanks to Mars winning the race to terraform the planets against Venus, Venus remains ignored by the four major economies. The citizens don’t have IDs, and the colony is treated as a place to exile criminals.
Wistario wishes to change the situation his birthplace faces, and that is when a young girl who claims to be the guide for ‘Urðr Hunt’ appears before him.
Characters (names subject to change as official names come out)
Wistario Apham
A young boy who grew up on the Ladonitza Colony floating above Venus. His parents died early, and he inherited the Apham Equipment colony management company at a young age. He’s a cheerful boy who has the guts to make decisions when it matters. He dreams of turning Venus into a tourist destination.
Demnar Kitaro Jr.
The person who has taken care of and educated Wistario since he was born. While he looks tough, and will act severely when needed to, he ultimately ends up pampering Wistario in many cases. He has been maintaining Gundam Hajiroboshi for a long time.
Cornall Kosa
A mysterious girl who appeared before Wistario, saying that she was the guide to Urðr Hunt. She acts polite and proper, and speaks with a calm tone that’s unbefitting of the age she looks. She doesn’t show many expressions, so it’s hard to tell what she’s thinking. She likes to brew tea.
Gundam Hajiroboshi
A Mobile Suit that’s hidden behind the power section of the Ladonitza Colony. The Mobile Suit was passed down to Demnar by his grandfather, and he has been continuing to maintain the mecha in secret. When the colony is attacked by an unknown mecha, Wistario boards the Mobile Suit, waking it from its long slumber.
