Unity has commissioned a number of short (four minutes) documentaries that take a closer look at the people making some games using its game engine. They were made by Breakwater Studios.
One of those documentaries follows the Tokyo-based five-man studio Friend & Foe, which consists of people who worked on The Last Guardian, Battlefield 3, and Killzone.
They’re currently making their debut game together called Vane. It’s a single player game about a “child with an odd ability stuck in a strange land.” It also focuses on exploration and mystery as the natural environment reveals the remnants of a strange civilization.
You can watch the mini-doc on Friend & Foe above. There are also others in this “Made with Unity” series to watch. One follows hobbyist solo developer Thomas Brush as he makes his point-and-click adventure Pinstripe. The other sticks with Sarah and Colin Northway as they look into turning Fantastic Contraption into a virtual reality game.
