Minecraft Sells 500,000 Units On PlayStation Network In Japan

The digital version of Minecraft has sold 500,000 copies on PlayStation Network in Japan, Sony have announced.  The game is available on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita.

The Vita version by itself has sold 200,000 copies in Japan, and to give it more exposure, Sony plan on releasing the Vita version of Minecraft at retail.

Minecraft isn’t the first example of a Western-developed “sandbox” game that has done well in Japan recently either. Terraria was published in Japan by Spike Chunsoft, and sold 300,000 units between its PlayStation 3 and Vita versions.
